Good morning, folks!
Next week, my friends and I will be throwing our first annual birthday bash for author Jules Verne. The idea was created last year on his birthday, February 8th. (We are throwing the party a couple days later.) Plans involved cupcakes, snuggies, giant squid, yellow submarines and steampunk photoshoots. It promises to be quite a fun event and hopefully, it will become a yearly tradition. There is a possibility of this being a year of author tributes. I hope we are able to plan more!
For those of you who are not familiar with Jules Verne (shame on you!), he was a turn of the century science-fiction writer. Among his many books, he is famous for writing 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Around the World in 80 Days, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I didn’t find this out until this morning but he is also apparently the second most translated author in the world behind Agatha Christie (who is another one of my favorite authors).
In preparation for the event, I was tasked with creating a party music mix. I got so into this that I created a video for the celebration. It was one of those projects that just comes naturally. I finished the video this morning and uploaded it to youtube. You’ll find the video below. It’s all meant in good fun. I respect and love Jules Verne as an author. The man deserves a great party.
In other news, I’ve finally reached the 1/2 way point in editing “Aequitas.” I plan to work some more on it this weekend. I’ll be trying to get some work done on my other projects as well. And I would desperately like to finish reading Anthony Bourdain’s Medium Raw, so that I can review it and move on to The Hunger Games. I swear I’m the only person who hasn’t read that yet.
Today is also the Super Bowl. Good luck to both the Patriots and the Giants. (*cough* go Patriots.) Tomorrow, I’ll be posting my Inspiration Through Music blog, featuring songs from Massive Attack.
