So! It has been quite the busy summer! Aside from kicking it back at the wonderful New England Authors Expo in July, I also had the chance to get in on the action of New Hampshire’s Granite State Comic Con! What a joy that was! I manned (or shall I say womaned?) the New England Horror Writers table with my fellow authors Scott Goudsward, Rob Watts, Gordon Bean, and Matthew Bartlett on September 13th and 14th, a midst a sea of Harley Quinns, Arya Starks, and Starlords. I even had a run-in with one of my worst fears…one that I couldn’t have even imagined would be present: a stilted devil clown that continued to haunt me no matter which direction I looked in. I had copies of my Monstrum Chronicles series present and was promoting the upcoming 3rd book in the series, Memento Mori. I made a few sales, enjoyed getting to know my fellow writers, and checked out some of the many other vendors at the show. (I came close to getting vampire fangs. Maybe next time?)
Don’t tell me that thing wouldn’t give you nightmares.
About a week after my journey into all that is science fiction and fantasy, I stopped by the Ellsworth Public Library and had a wonderful reading on September 25th for my comedy, Night Time, Dotted Line. The Ellsworth Library is a gorgeous library located right in the heart of Ellsworth, practically across the street from the City Hall. Thank you to Sandy Abbott for inviting me to stop by. I enjoyed it very much.
I’m in full editing mode on “Memento Mori” right now. With only a couple months until the release date, I’m working like a locomotive that’s threatening to come off the rails. Unless there are some severe problems with layout and cover design, I’m still planning on having the book available by December 7th. It just takes time; lots and lots of time. Cross your fingers for me, guys. I’m working as much as I can to get this out to you on time.
But just because I’m in full editing mode, it does not exclude me from a few more events planned around Halloween…which is right around the corner. I’ve been eagerly planning this year’s 3rd annual Midcoast Halloween Readings. This year, we have about 10 authors who will be featured on at least one of three different nights. We’ll all be reading from mystery, horror, or suspense themed stories (our own writing).
Night #1 is at the Patten Free Library in Bath Oct. 22nd from 6 – 7:30 pm.
Night #2 is at Bull Feeney’s in Portland Oct. 26th from 4 – 6:30 pm.
Night #3 is at Highland’s Coffee House in Thomaston Oct. 28th from 6 – 8 pm.
I’ll be providing updates the sooner we get to the events, including which authors will be reading each night with short bios and author photos.
I’m hoping to have a new Cooking Adventure for the blog up by next Thursday. I’ll be writing a new Inspiration Through Music blog featuring music from Library Tapes, which will be going up this Thursday. And don’t forget about our upcoming Horror Fail Friday.
Stay tuned, folks!
