The Wild Dark Gear List

What gear would you want to get through the apocalypse? Today, I’m sharing with you a few of the things that my characters in my upcoming book use to get by. THE WILD DARK releases for pre-order today and I figured what better way to celebrate than share some exclusive details not only from this book but…the next one!

Elizabeth Raleigh is the protagonist of THE WILD DARK, an ex-cop, but also one with experience in the outdoors. While she is stuck with a less inferior sleeping bag on a particularly chilly night, all she can think of is getting back to her Mountain Hardware Rook 15 packed with all of her camping gear at home. The 15 degree bag is a decent option for late fall, winter, and early spring.

The Osprey Ariel 75 is Liz’s bag of choice to carry all of her essential gear. 75 liters with anti-gravity technology and a convertible top lid.
Liz is able to swipe a pair of these kick ass purple Lowa Renegade Mid Gore-Tex boots while scrounging for supplies in the book. Vibram soles, nubuck leather, and topped off with a pair of Darn Tough hiking socks, these get her through all the miles she’ll need to go. (These are my absolute favorite boots!)
The MSR PocketRocket 2 is the ultimate lightweight backpacking stove and one that Liz’s fiance, Josh, keeps at his cabin on Lake Storm in Northern Maine. Able to boil a liter of water in just three and a half minutes and weighs only 2.6 oz.
The Kuhl Arktik Jacket is the jacket Liz struggles through the New England winter with. With a fleece liner and waxed waterproof outer shell, she can trudge through the wintery landscape easily.
Josh is an adventure photographer by trade, which means he has some seriously awesome gear to explore in. What better jacket to survive a snowy apocalypse in than the Fjallraven Vidda Pro Wool Padded Jacket. Trust me when I say it’s warm, waterproof, and AH-mazing.
